Why Have Your Maternity Couples Photoshoot at the Beach?

Why take maternity couples photos?

You may be tired and lifeless but I promise getting this epic journey and milestone of your life documented is so worth it. Why? You may or may not have more babies in the future, but every pregnancy will hold something different and no two are alike. You will be able to look back at this time in your life and all the obstacles you have overcome as a mother/father and couple. There is nothing like professional storytelling photographs to bring you back. Here in St. Augustine, Florida - there is an abundance of beaches that make for the perfect backdrop for your maternity couples photos. Let’s talk about why!

Why take your maternity couples photos at the beach?

With so many awesome locations to take your maternity photos in St. Augustine, Florida, you may be wondering what the best choice for location may be. Hands down - I recommend the beach. The focus should be on you, the baby, and your love. The beach offers an amazing backdrop without being overpowering. The serene environment brings awe and joy and allows you two to connect with nature and yourselves. Besides - the golden sun during sunrise and sunset is sure to accentuate your radiant glow just a little extra!

There are so many fun lifestyle prompts we can do at the beach to get photographs that allow you to be present and in the moment. And lastly, you can wear very little clothing to show off the bump without it seeming out of place. :)

Best time to take maternity couples photos?

Best time to schedule your shoot is at about 32-34 weeks for great photos of the bump and lower risk of missing the deadline. The best times of day are usually sunrise and sunset for that golden glow.

What to wear to your beach maternity couples photoshoot?

I usually suggest two outfits. I love flowy dresses that accentuate the belly, or if you are more of a tomboy type - rolled down jeans and a rolled up tank make for a great combo. For the second outfit, you could do bra and undies or a swimsuit or artistic and tasteful partial nude. These can be done either first thing at sunrise or last at sunset during a more secluded portion of the shoot. Either way, you should be super comfortable and ready to move around a little bit.

How long does the maternity shoot take?

With a couple outfits, your photos will take about 1.5 hours and it may be smart to choose a beach location with a bathroom for a wardrobe change and a chance for momma to take as many potty breaks as she needs.
