Planning a Bachelorette Party

If you are the maid of honor or a close friend of the bride, you may be asked to plan a bachelorette party. This can be super stressful if you don’t know where to start. Here’s a checklist guide to planning a bachelorette party that’s sure to be a success!

Timing

The Bach party should be at a time that is close enough to the wedding but far enough away that the bride isn’t max stressed yet. Around two months is a good starting point, but keep in mind that you should send out your invitations a few months in advance, if you can. They can be simple save-the-dates, and don’t have to have all the details on them just yet.

Consult the bride to see how much of the planning she wants to keep a surprise or if she wants to be involved in most of it. She should know what to bring, who is coming, where, when and what the theme is at the very least. This way if she isn’t feeling any of those terms, she can voice her opinion.

Location

The party doesn’t have to be local. In fact, it is nice to get away from your usual hang out spots and experience something new as a group. The location should have plenty of interesting places to visit, otherwise you will have to plan a lot more activities to make it fun for everyone.

Make sure you check with bride what vibes she is going for. Does she want to get wild or keep things chill? Not everyone wants to get loose. Invite friends appropriately or set expectations that it is okay for some of the shy invitees to sit out the wild parts.

Planning

Invite the closest friends. Bride may or may not want to invite her family. Do not assume that she does. It is best to invite a group of friends that vibe well together and won’t cause any drama.

Use an app like The BACH, to keep track of invitees and gather their phone numbers and emails if you need them. You can also vote on the Bach hashtag in the app!

Once you have everyone’s phone number, it can be beneficial to start a group chat or email to talk through the logistics of the party.

Budget

Scope out a BNB that can house everyone who is attending. It may be good to keep the number relatively low to make sure everybody can stay at the same residence. Account for drinks, basic groceries, décor, and party swag, if you plan on putting together favor bags or making T-shirts. Everyone can chip in.

Use an app like Splitwise to request reimbursement for your initial purchases and deposits. The app is also good for splitting meal tickets, groceries throughout the stay and Uber rides.

Quick Tips

Make sure you are taking in consideration the weather and the location when you are setting a theme. Don’t assume everyone can afford what you have budgeted for and be considerate when choosing items and BNB. Designate people to help you with décor/goodie bags to alleviate some of the stress. Make sure everyone knows where each person is always. Communication is key!

And lastly – bring your photographer to capture those memories for you and your girlfriends so you can cherish them forever!
