Sharing with vendors: When you start meeting with vendors, you can show them your Pinterest boards to give them a better understanding of your vision.

Pinterest can feel overwhelming and jumbled if you are unsure of how to use it and what to search for & in what order. I have been using Pinterest for my personal brand, photography and growth for the past year. I felt the need to share this information with you to help you be organized and see Pinterest as a legit planning tool and not a chore.

I will be referencing my Fall Wedding Board in this article.

Steps to Plan Your Wedding on Pinterest:

  1. Begin by searching a broad category. Example: Fall Wedding.

  2. Scroll through and save any Pins that you find relevant to your overall aesthetic to a new board. Name it. Example: Fall Wedding

  3. Once you start seeing a pattern in the types of pins you are favoring, adjust your search to be slightly more specific. Example: Dark moody fall wedding.

  4. Keep saving pins to your new board, but do not click on individual pins just yet because you will go off in a tangent if you do.

  5. Once you feel like you have a good foundation and at least 1-2 pins you really connect with in most categories of your wedding, you can pause your search and go directly to your board.

  6. Click Organize. Select 1-2 pins in a category (Example: Florals) and Create a Section. Name it. Example: Florals. It is important to keep these sections small and really zero in what you want or keep searching. Do not muddy up your sections by adding pins you don’t really love.

  7. Do this for other categories. Examples: Bridal Party, Florals, Table Decor, Cake, Stationery, Setup, Dress, Suit, Bridal Portraits, Colors, Hair, etc.

  8. See if there are any categories missing. Example: Makeup.

  9. Search for missing pins. Be specific. Example: search for moody bridal makeup instead of just makeup. Select 1-2 pins to the Makeup and Create a Section. Example: Makeup.

  10. Once you are happy with the overall vibe of your sections, you can either click on individual pins inside each section to view similar ideas or click More Ideas to let Pinterest auto generate some new pins based on what you saved.

Happy pinning!
